About Driftwood Players

Sunshine Coast Driftwood Players, a registered non-profit society has been entertaining audiences on the Sunshine Coast for over 50 years.  During that time audiences have sat in Heritage Playhouse, as well as school gyms, church and community halls, restaurants, malls parks and streets.  Driftwood Players continues to support the development and accessibility of theatre in our community.  

The organization has three branches:

1. Driftwood MainStage, offering high quality productions,

2. Driftwood Theatre School offering theatre training through classes and workshops for children and adults, as well as presenting an annual Showcase of student work and full scale performances featuring student actors,

3. Driftwood Players Pop-Up performances: Story Theatre, an outdoor public theatre troupe that tours local Fairs and Events over the Summer, this branch also often works with Community Partners to create special projects like Midsummer Night’s Dream and annual Halloween in Lower Gibsons, the Historical Walking Tour and Downton Abby fund raiser teas..

Driftwood also operates the Costume Shoppe in lower Gibsons, offering a wide selection of costumes for rental.     

Driftwood Players is proud to work in collaboration with other local organizations, including the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archive, Gibsons and District Public Library, Grandmothers and Grandothers, the Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre’s Chair Actor’s, the shíshálh Nation and Sechelt Downtown Business Association, Sunshine Coast Community Shakespeare Project, Sunshine Coast Community Foundation (Bev Shaw Literacy Fund)

To continue bringing quality theatre to our community, we welcome your support.  We invite you to make a donation and/or become a member.  

MEMBERSHIP

Your membership will help you stay connected to all aspects of our theatre news and offer opportunities to participate in upcoming productions both on stage and behind the scenes.  Membership fees are $20.00 per year, due at the commencement of the AGM held in January; however, membership fees paid on or after October 1st will count for both the current year and the following year.

VOLUNTEER

We encourage anyone who would like to act, direct, produce, write, work backstage (set, props, costumes, make-up, hair, etc.) create posters or programs, organize fund-raising events, submit a favourite play for consideration or offer their dance or musical talents to please get in touch with Driftwood Players.
